Quarter Horse Training

Careen A. Hammock

A little about me:

Hello!

I have been training horses for several years in the Bryan/College Station area. I was given the opportunity to train with several local horse trainers in Central Texas over the years before traveling and training full time with NCHA cutting horse trainers. I was offered a job back here in College Station and came back to work for State Farm Insurance but have continued training horses part time. Last year I was accepted as a trainer to compete in the 2008 Extreme Mustang Makeover Idols Division in Fort Worth, Texas and WON my division with my 3 year old mustang gelding TAZ. We had a ton of fun and Taz has found a wonderful new home with his new owner Kirsten of Sequin, Texas. I am competing once again this year in the Extreme Mustang Stampede 2009 to be held again in Fort Worth, Texas this September. Check out the BLOG to follow our progress.

LOCATION:

I am located in the Bryan/College Station area in Central/East Texas. I work for State Farm Insurance as a Sales Representative. I am fully licensed and love working in the insurance business. I am currently training out of a facility located in College Staton. All outside horses have the options of stalls with runs or paddocks are also available.

I have 2 spoiled rotten puppy dogs; a Leopard Catahoula (Haliegh) and a Weimeraner/Pitbull Cross (Sarita). I raise Peppy San Badger and Doc Bar bred horses.

OTHER MUSTANGS:

I have adopted 2 other mustangs from the BLM over the past few years. My first mustang (Baystar) is not about 15 years old. I have taught riding lessons off of him, the Girl Scouts and used him as a "project" horse and I would let the most inexperienced person crawl up on him. He is a great mustang, very intelligent, quiet and a very easy keeper. The 2nd mustang we adopted was a little mustang dun mare named Shilo. She is not a smooth mover, not so comfortable to ride, so she is pasture art and enjoys her life. I bred her twice and sold both her colts for a nice amount based on thier looks, trainability, attitude and personality. Both mustangs are now living in South Texas on my moms ranch where life is good.
